During your time in the Air Cadets, you can gain a number of qualifications, whilst having a lot of fun! These are useful not only in the Air Cadets, but look impressive on your CV. When you leave School, College or Uni and are looking for a job, these "extra's" make you stand out from the crowd and can help you get the job of your dreams, whether thats in the Military or Civilian Life.

The Air Cadet Organisation is the largest participant in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. From the age of 14 you can take part in the Award. There are three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Our aim is to get every Cadet in 579, at least the Bronze Award, with many going on to complete Silver and Gold. |

Its never too young to learn First Aid skills, every Air Cadet will complete the St John Young First Aider Award |

BTEC Awards are available to all Cadets and are equivilant to GCSE's, Grades A-C |

Gliding Scholarships are open to all Cadets from the age of 16, you could be flying solo before driving a car! |
|
Through a Flying Scholarship, you could go on to obtain your Private Pilot Licence before you can even drive! |
|
Leadership Courses are offered at three levels and give you the opportunity to further develop your self-confidence and leaderships skills. |
|
You will start your cadet life as a Junior Cadet. You will receive training in all the basics that you need to know to further your cadet experience, and this will lead to your First Class Cadet Exam. |
