Adventure Training

Adventurous Training is an essential part of the Air Cadets training syllabus, and is one of the most popular activities, it is also the place where team-work really counts!

579 Squadron and Detached Flight are ideally positioned in Mid-Wales to take full advantage of the many Adventure Training opportunities in the surrounding areas. Nothing is compulsory, but cadets have the opportunity to participate in many outdoor activities and all are led by adult staff with appropriate National Governing Body Qualifications.

The Air Cadets have their own Adventure Training Centres and No 2 Welsh Wing use the centre at Windermere for a weeks adventure training, which includes activities such as mountain walking, rock climbing, kayaking and mountain biking.

579 Squadron and Detached Flight, along with their Sector colleagues take part in adventure training weekends throughout the year, where cadets have the opportunity to try activities from kayaking to climbing to gorge walking.

When it comes to adventure training we also work closely with 1251 (Berwyn) Squadron and 2279 (Wrexham) Squadron, regularly attending weekends at Capel Curig in Snowdonia where cadets take part in both high level and low level trekking in the Snowdonia National Park, along with climbing at the Beacon Indoor Climbing Centre.
